I Need Friends Friday: Sarah... Take 2

Every Friday I interview a different person and share that interview with you. Perhaps they will be a fellow-author. Perhaps one of my neighbors. Maybe the bagger at the grocery store. A member of my family. A follower of this blog. Maybe it will be you! Hey, it could happen.

Today's INFF guest has been an INFF guest before. She is, in fact, probably the greatest INFF guest of all time. She just seems to know what I am going to ask before I ask it. I can veer onto any topic and she veers right along with me. If I had a twin sister, today's guest would be that twin sister, only even more like me. Oh yes. Today's guest rocks my socks. Literally my socks. Because she is me... or she is I... or however I'm supposed to say that.

SME: Welcome back to INFF, Sarah!

Sarah: Thanks.

SME: I am so glad you agreed to come back.

Sarah: Personally, I am more surprised than glad.

SME: Were you this grumpy last time?

Sarah: Let's just say our last interview didn't go so well.

SME: I have a year's worth of interviews under my belt since then, you realize. I am certain today's installment will go much better.
I asked a guest last month to vote on which pie was better: Apple or Pumpkin. See, I couldn't decide and wanted an outside opinion. Would you care to chime in?

Sarah: You realize my opinion would not technically be an "outside" one.

SME: Sure it would.

Sarah: Ummm...

SME: So? Which pie?

Sarah: Really?

SME: Apple or Pumpkin?

Sarah: I cannot decide.

SME: That is crazy. Neither can I.

Sarah: Yeah. It's pretty shocking how that worked out.

SME: So how's the writing thing going for you?

Sarah: Not bad. Not bad at all.

SME: Really? So have you been able to quit your day job yet? I've heard that's the benchmark of a really, really successful writer.

Sarah: I've tried quitting my day job, but my kids keep showing up.

SME: Yeah. Been there.

Sarah: Again. The similarities are shocking.

SME: Did I hear some sarcasm in that response?

SME: The silent treatment. That's classy.

Sarah: I'm not sure things have improved much since our last interview.

SME: None of my other interviewees had any complaints. Except Mr. Darcy. He was pretty grumpy.

Sarah: Do you plan to have him back?

SME: Umm... He declined.

Sarah: *nods knowingly*

SME: What is your favorite continent?

Sarah: You asked me that last time.

SME: Still a valid question.

Sarah: Still the same answer.

SME: North America, right.

Sarah: I don't even remember.

SME: Your previous interview is beginning to come back to me. As are a few regrets connected to it.

Sarah: I'm usually a very congenial person. Something about you brings out the snarky-ness in me.

SME: I get that a lot.

Sarah: How's that working out for you.

SME: I have no complaints.

Sarah: *shakes head in disbelief*

SME: This is the part of the interview when I draw a stick figure portrait of my guest.

Sarah: Maybe this version will be less ticked-off looking.

SME: This version?

Sarah: You did draw another portrait, didn't you?

SME: But you're the same person.

Sarah: The only reason I agreed to do another interview was so that I could get a better portrait. I have taken driver's license photos that were more flattering that than portrait.

SME: It's not my fault you aren't photogenic.

SME: You look a little... upset.

SME: You're upset, aren't you.

Sarah: Let's move on.

SME: *clears throat awkwardly* Last question of the interview. Top 5 reasons this is the best blog interview ever.

Sarah: Ur... uh... I got nothing.

SME: Yeah, I kinda saw that coming.

Sarah: Yep.

SME: *cue exit music* Well, this has been "I Need Friends" Friday. Come back next week when I will make another friend!!
