Now That Is Funny!

Before we move into the heart of this post, I feel the need to preface. This comic strip appeared recently in our local paper and, I just want to say, it was way too funny! Okay. Proceed.



Caption (in case it's too fuzzy): Rat, the book editor: Dear Contributor, Thank you for your very interesting and nicely bound manuscript, which I have recently reviewed. I believe your work will make a valuable contribution to the publishing world.
By 'valuable,' I mean that I think we can re-use the brads.

Um. Yeah. The publishing world is often cruel.

I for one found that remarkably cathartic. How 'bout you?

Holy Sleep Deprivation, Batman!

I just returned from an amazing writers' retreat. Imagine, if you can, upwards of 30 women - all of whom are a little off their proverbial rockers - getting together to talk, write, eat and do very little sleeping.
There were some amazing classes on everything from self-promotion to recognizing and fixing Point of View errors. There was also a mind-boggling amount of chocolate.
So... the highlights for me:

• I was able to sport my collection of writing-related t shirts without getting the looks of confusion (and concern) I do when wearing them to the grocery store.
• I did massive amounts of work while I was up there.
• The weather was gorgeous!
• It was rather like being at a huge slumber party.
• I had more than one moment in which I discovered answers to problems I've been having with my writing.
• There were a couple times when I thought that maybe, just maybe, I wasn't completely awful at this whole writing thing.

Ah, bliss!!

Thanks to all the non-stop writing time I had during this retreat I am ever-so-close to finishing the final edits of my next book, "A Forlorn Hope." This will be Book 5 in The Jonquil Brothers Series. Stay tuned, I will be posting a trailer for this book very, very, very soon!
